We are honored to have received an invitation from the  Huni Kuin leader Tadeu Siã Huibei for December 2021, to celebrate Christmas and New Year in the honor of eternal life!

This is a very special time for the Amazons and for our lives, and we are very honored to be inviting you to spend and celebrate this special time of year with the indigenous people of the Huni Kuin that settled on the Jordao river in the state of Acre, Brazil in the Amazon Rain forest.

In the deep forest, there is a very special Huni Kuin village named São Joaquim where the sacred knowledge of the forest and of the Huni Kuin people is kept not only by verbal traditions but within a jungle library and institution holding of the Huni Kuin knowledge - this is the first of its kind. It is the ‘Centre of Memory’ of the very honored Pajé Agostinho Manduca, who held vast and sacred knowledge of the forest and the living medicines of the jungle.

Out of gratitude for his presence on this Earth, there is an annual meeting at this village, organized by his relatives honoring Eternal Life, translated as “Shuku Shukui”.

Pajé Augustinho Manduca Mateus Ika Muru had a dream of leaving his knowledge of sacred and healing plants written to his people, the Huni Kuin, and to the world. His dream has come true and the book Una Isi Kayawa - The Healing Book is now available to everyone. This is the Huni Kuin's first documented story, created entirely by the Huni Kuin.

Out of gratitude for his presence on this Earth, there is an annual meeting in this time organized by his relatives honoring and celebrating the Eternal life meaning ‘Shuku Shukui’.

Pajé Augustinho who has now joined his journey to the world of the ancestors, his whole family is inviting brothers and sisters from all over the world to share the moments of prayer, to receive the strength, the healing, the light of love of the wisdom of the ancestral knowledge of the Huni Kuin people and their indigenous world.

All are welcome to the village and are welcomed to the house of eternal life and eternal joy.

We welcome you to spend your Christmas and New Year in the deep jungle surrounded by indigenous healers and Pajés, the Huni Kuin community and playful indigenous children, who are the new generation of this ancient tribe and will carry this knowledge on for years to come.

The Huni Kuin tribe which translates to “the True People” is known for the strength that has kept them together during the genocide they faced and this unity has allowed them to keep their culture intact, as well as keeping their native language Hatxa Kuin and cultural and healing traditions alive. Most importantly, the knowledge of the sacred medicines from the forest that has been used for millions of years and is used until this day, as well as their sacred chants in Hatxa Kuin which resonate so closely with every being. It is a magical opportunity to be in this flow that takes us back to our roots and connects to where we all came from.

As we live in a time where we can't just leave our responsibilities, family’s and homes behind we have organized various programs so that this magical journey can be enjoyed by everyone who feels the call to go deeper into their healing and awakening.

THE GARDEN OF MEDICINES

Pajé Ikamuru was a scholar and connoisseur of many medicinal plants of the Huni Kuin people, knowledge was received largely verbally through the family nucleus of knowledge and close relatives.

In the first few days of the trip in the village, we will visit Jardim das Medicinas - where the material body of the Pajé is located, as well as all the medicinal plants already known and studied, cultivated by the Pajé. Your children also recognize this place as the Pajé's office!

In this location, there will also be two ceremonies to honor the Pajé Ikamuru Agostinho Manduca.

The baptism is held for children who are at the age of transitioning away from their milk teeth to their secondary, permanent teeth. During the baptism, the teeth are painted with the nixpu vine for protection and to give the child a long life, with prosperity and abundance, and so they do not lose teeth until they reach old age.

The baptism is the initiation from the Huni Kuin people. The retreat brings a prayer for the preparation of your life in a spiritual and material sense - for example, to have a long life, to be a warrior of peace and holder of knowledge. During this baptism, you can look for wisdom within the kingdom of the sacredness of the forest and with its medicines.

This initiation is very sacred to the Huni Kuin people. This baptism is a preparation of your body and your spirit for your path in life. You can choose the area of life that you want to transform and improve, for example, your path of ayahuasca, the songs of ayahuasca, the path of traditional medicine.
The  Baptism opens this on all these levels. During this time you can seek this knowledge of wisdom in the healing medicine spirit of Ayahuasca and rapé and other medicine plants.

The baptism also includes a floral and herbal medicine bath, prayers, food, sacred body painting, smudging, and painting of teeth for protection. All of these forms of prayer will protect you in your life from illness on your path.

You will be on the diet for 3 days where you will not eat meat and only eating the indigenous traditional food without salt, sugar, and water. You will stay mostly in the hammock for 3 days with not too much walking. There will be always someone looking for you and guarding you through this process.

The Pajés will baptize you and pray with you and for you. The prayer is called ‘Pacarin' and is a prayer for all levels of existence. After the baptism is finished, it is closed with a Kambo ceremony and a sacred medicine bath with prayer.

In the Huni Kuin tradition, the Nixpupima Baptism takes place at the time of the corn harvest during the Amazon winter.

The baptism is carried out over three days with a diet without sugar, salt, water, and meat and you must lie in a hammock for these three days in silence. During this time, various medicines will be used, such as herbal baths, body painting with jenipapo and the application of the Kambo frog vaccine at the end of the three days. This is a true initiation into Huni Kuin's spirituality.

During these three days, visitors who are on the support team and throughout the village are mobilized and involved in the Baptism activities.

The Pajés will carry out a number of special and sacred prayers to bless those on the diet. The women of the village will also work extremely hard in the kitchen to make special corn-based food for participants.

There are several traditional games that will be played through the rest of the gathering once the baptism is finished and a special Nixi Pae New Year's Eve ceremony.

The community invites visitors from Brazil and the world to participate in this special event; to be part of the Ikamuru Shuku Shukuwe Tribute and to participate in the BAPTISM OF NIXPUPIMA along with the children of the forest and experiencing this ancestral tradition of the Huni Kuin people

HANDICRAFT WORKSHOP - USING MATERIALS FROM THE FOREST

The Huni Kuin women are very creative and use everything that the forest offers maternally in their day to day, producing utensils and objects that can help them facilitate and beautify the homes and the life of the people.

The straw (made from dried leaves of various plants) is used to transport food and medicinal plants in the forest, they also make out of this material, mats which are used in the ‘terreiro’ by the children and adults for various ways - including as fans that relieve the sun and heat!

In the workshop, each one of us will weave with the help of our master craftswomen, an item of great use in the forest and that can be used throughout the gathering.

SACRED BODY PAINTING

It is a daily habit that both children and adults and elders keep alive to this day.

With Jenipapo and annatto, they trace the lines of the body in sacred designs - called Kenes - that represent the everyday elements and prayers of the Huni Kuin culture, such as plants and animals.

In order to beautify and protect, these plants also have medicinal properties, such as Urucum which is a powerful sunscreen and repellent, and Jenipapo, which can also be used in traditional diets.

BOAT RIDE TO THE VILLAGE

On the river of Jordao, the villages are integrated in a way that allows the neighboring villages to work together in partnership for the welfare of all Huni Kuin Communities.

We will visit Aldeia Cachoeira for a day, on a boat trip up the beautiful Jordao River, which will mesmerize us with the beauty of the forests!
